Summary

More
Flushed with the success of his trailblazing bike ride around the farm, Duck decides he's ready to drive the tractor. As in David Shannon's bestselling Duck on a Bike, all the barnyard animals share their humorous comments as they watch Duck do the unthinkable. Then, one by one, they join him on the tractor for a ride!

But what happens when Duck drives the big red tractor through town, past the popular diner where all the locals are having lunch? What will those folks think when they see Duck and all the other animals riding around on Farmer O'Dell's tractor?

Filled with entertaining detail and sly jokes, readers will pore over each picture again and again. Perfect for reading aloud!

About the Author

Award-winning author and illustrator David Shannon has always been an artist. At the age of five, he wrote and illustrated his first book. On every page were pictures of David doing things he was not supposed to do, along with the two words his mother said to him constantly—"No, David!"—the only words he knew how to spell. Years later, when Shannon's mother sent him that book, he was inspired to write and illustrate his now-classic bestseller and Caldecott Honor book, No, David!

Since then, in addition to his other bestselling David books, Shannon has mined further aspects of his personal life for material—including Duck on a Bike (inspired by his daughter, who made animal sounds long before she could talk) and Good Boy, Fergus! (about the family dog). Shannon's illustrations are unique and instantly recognizable for their vibrant colors and edgy-to-mischievous childlike quality. And while his stories sometimes test the limit between bad behavior and creative imagination, the emphasis is always on learning and forgiveness at every step of the way.
