About this Series

Amelia Bedelia and her many mishaps have been delighting readers since 1963. Always one to take what people say a little too literally, Amelia Bedelia definitely has a tricky time understanding figures of speech. When asked to dress a chicken, she comes up with little outfits! And when told to pitch a tent, she tosses it right into the bushes. She may not always do what others expect, but she certainly gets an A for effort.

Originally a series of readers created by Peggy Parish, the line was continued by her nephew Herman Parish. Not only did Amelia Bedelia keep having her misadventures as an adult, but Herman also introduced the world to young Amelia Bedelia. From the first day of school to dealing with her best friend moving away, Amelia Bedelia tackles each childhood experience with her trademark overly literal charm. These new adventures are available in a variety of formats, including picture books, readers, and chapter books, allowing children to grow as readers alongside Amelia Bedelia.
