About the Author

Julia Donaldson comes from a musical background: Her father played the cello and her mother loves to sing. Donaldson and her sister were in a children's opera group and from an early age, she wrote musical plays for her friends and family to perform.

Axel Scheffler entered a drawing competition for an international chocolate company long before he settled on a career in illustration...and he won a stuffed lilac cow. He studied illustration at the Bath Academy of Art, where he spent a lot of time drawing sheep and peacocks.
