Summary

More
Freddy is really looking forward to a night of camping with his dad and his best friend, Robbie, but Freddy is afraid of the dark, and there are no nightlights in the forest. To make matters worse, Freddy's sister Suzie pinky bet him a whole week's worth of chores that he will be too much of a chicken to make it through the night in the woods.

Fishing for dinner, swimming in the lake, and building a fire will be fun, but Freddy will have to survive a night of spooky ghost stories and encounters with lizards, skunks, and about a gazillion angry bees. Hot dogs and s'mores are on the campfire menu for this trip, but when a hungry bear visits the campsite in the dark, it might be Freddy who winds up being the midnight snack!

This hilarious and down-to-earth chapter book also contains campfire jokes, wilderness-themed word searches, and Freddy's Perfect S'mores recipe.

About this Series

Author Abby Klein, a first-grade teacher herself, models Freddy's adventures on those of real kids. Maybe that's why Freddy's concerns seem so realistic—and why young chapter-book readers love reading about them. Like many first-graders, Freddy loves sharks—and kids can look for the word fin hidden in the illustrations.
