Summary

More
Ramona is not afraid of anything. Or at least she thinks she isn't. When friends tease her older sister, she tells them off. When a big, nasty dog comes her way, she throws her shoe at it. Sure, she's frightened of sleeping all alone in her new bedroom. But only a little. And she isn't the least bit scared of beginning first grade or learning how to read. Then things start to go wrong. Her teacher doesn't seem to like her. She loses her temper and gets into trouble. Now she's afraid she's not so brave after all!

About the Author

Beverly Cleary is the Newbery Medal–winning author of more than 30 books for children. When she was a young girl, Ms. Cleary lived in a town so small it had no library. Perhaps it was this lack of books on hand that led the author to write the kinds of books (and create the many characters) she wished she could have encountered as child. Beverly Cleary's books are full of charming adventure and are beloved for their warmth, wit, and welcoming feel.
