Wings of Fire Sweepstakes

 
OFFICIAL RULES

            1.         NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. To enter, send a postcard with the name of your favorite Wings of Fire dragon tribe, along with a sentence about why it is your favorite. All entries must include the following entrant contact information: name, age, and grade; teacher name; and school name, address, and phone number. All entries must be received by March 29, 2019. Winners will be notified on or about April 9, 2019.
  
            2.         Scholastic Inc. (“Sponsor”) and its agencies shall not be liable for (a) telephone, electronic, program, network, internet, or computer delays, deletions, interruptions, or other failures of any kind; (b) late, lost, damaged, failed, misdirected, incomplete, garbled, unintelligible, or delayed computer messages; or (c) any human error that may occur in the processing of any entry. Nor are they responsible for any theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries, whether caused by the sender or any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in this giveaway. Proof of mailing of your entry does not constitute proof of delivery.

            3.         Winners will be selected by a random drawing. Odds of winning are determined by the number of eligible entries received. Sponsor is not responsible for late, lost, stolen, misdirected, damaged, mutilated, postage due, incomplete, or illegible entries or mail.

            4.         Sweepstakes is open to students who are legal US residents (including Washington, D.C., and other locales under United States jurisdiction including Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, American Virgin Islands, and other protected territories) and currently attending US schools in grades 5 through 8. Employees, and members of their families living in the same household, of Sponsor, and its parent, subsidiaries, brokers, distributors, dealers, retailers, affiliates, and their respective advertising, promotion, and production agencies, (collectively, the “related entities”), are not eligible to enter. Void where prohibited or restricted by law.

            5.         There will be ten (10) Winners who each will receive a Wings of Fire prize pack, including a copy of Wings of Fire #11: The Lost Continent, signed by author Tui T. Sutherland. (Approximate retail value of this prize is $20.00.) All expenses not specified above, including, without limitation, all federal, state, and local taxes and international tariffs, are the winners’ sole responsibility.

            6.         All entrants, as a condition of entry, agree to release Sponsor, each prize provider in this Sweepstakes, and their respective related entities from any and all liability for injuries or damages of any kind sustained through participation in this sweepstakes and/or use of a prize once accepted.

            7.         No cash substitutions, transfers, or assignments of prizes allowed, except by Sponsor in case of unavailability, in which case a prize of equal or greater value will be awarded. All matters relating to this Sweepstakes shall be subject to Sponsor’s sole discretion, and Sponsor’s decisions shall be final and binding on all entrants and the winners. The winners will be required to sign and return an affidavit of eligibility and liability/publicity release within ten (10) days of notification attempt or an alternate winner may be selected. By accepting the prize, the winners grant to Sponsor the right to use their name, likeness, hometown, biographical information, and entry for purposes of advertising and promotion without further notice or compensation, except where prohibited by law. Winners may also be asked to attend and participate in media and/or public relations events (the “Media Events”) designated by Sponsor, prize provider, and/or requested by various media outlets. Upon Sponsor’s request, and subject to the winners’ availability, the winners agree to participate in such Media Events without any further compensation. By accepting the prize, winners agree to release Sponsor, prize provider, and their respective related entities, and hold each of them harmless, from any claims relating to their participation or nonparticipation in any Media Events.

            8.         The names of the prizewinners (available after April 9, 2019) will be listed on the Sponsor website at scholastic.com/clubcontests. You may also obtain the winners list by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope to: Winners List, Wings of Fire Sweepstakes, PO Box 714, New York, NY 10013-0714 by May 28, 2019.
