Get The Most Out of Book Clubs

  • Nancy,
1st Grade Teacher Teacher Tip: Send a reminder to parents...

I send a reminder note home to parents three days before the order is due, and wait until I've received all my orders to submit them each month.

  • Isabelle,
2nd Grade Teacher Teacher Tip: Give students multiple flyers...

I give students more choice by sending home multiple flyers. My students can choose from a wider selections of books online, too, to find what they want. Plus, I can earn even more rewards for my classroom.

How It Works for Teachers
  1. Submitting Your Child's Order
  2. Submitting Your Child's Order
  3. Books Arrive at School!
Next Step Step 1. Start Your Monthly Book Club Order

Every month, Scholastic provides an opportunity for your students to choose their own books—specially selected because they're timely, popular, fun to read, and just right for your class. Here's how to get started:

Review Your Catalog

You may have already received a catalog at school. If not, request the catalogs you'd like to get each month.

Catalogs are grouped by age, reading level, and interest. Each catalog also features a section of products and promotions just for you.

Set Up Parent Online Ordering or Customize Communication to Parents

Parent online ordering is fast, easy, and earns FREE Books for the classroom and home!

To customize online ordering, sign in to Book Clubs, click anywhere in the Parents Online Ordering area, and follow these easy steps:

  • Set your due date. You can choose to make this due date recur each month.
  • Create or update a personalized message that parents will see when they sign in to place their orders.
  • Choose up to three favorite catalogs.
  • Create parent communications using letter and e-mail templates. These will contain your one-time Class Activation Code that parents will need when they register. This code ensures that their orders go to you. You can also send parents your Book Club ordering link or put a banner on your class home page.
  • Update your recommendations and class wish list.

Distribute and Review Flyers with Your Class

Simply remove the staples from your Book Club catalog, then pass out the individual flyers to your students.

Attach your letter (which includes your online Class Activation Code) to send home to parents. Discuss which books you want to recommend to the class—you can even circle specific titles for each child to consider.
